Alright, I know I'm a couple days late on this and that what I have to say was said in a different Seattle post, but here it goes.

The soundtrack recording that goes on out in Seattle is done by freelance musicicans and has no real connection with the orchestra itself. True, most of the musicians are also in the orchestra, but the recording stuff is a separate deal.

Last year David Sabie (sp.), a graduate of the university I attend and a cello player with the Seattle orchestra, came to our school and did a lecture on music careers. He is one of the guys that does some admin stuff for all the recording that goes on out there. Very interesting talk!! It sounds like Seattle houses a large number of musicians that are paid well above average for their work.
