Jay, I have heard wonderful things about Oscar LaGasse, what can you tell me about him. Were you at Michigan with Pete DeBeau, tuba with the Virginia Symphony? He raved about Torchinsky. I am from New York and was heavily influenced by the Bell students, Kevin Ladd and Don Harry in particular. Seems to me we always had a fair share of heavies too, but not like this Detroit thing. I understand Velvet is an amazing player. Has she a CD out, I thought it heard mention of one. Any way, any thing on LaGasse would be great. Would be nice to see a retrospective done in TUBA about the 20th century tuba players outside of the big 5. Alot of wonderful players probably going unnoticed. Cheers.
