I had a very nice PT-4 rotary (compact 4/4 model) for a while. I used it a couple times in the pit and for pops. It worked very nicely with the 88 MP. If you can get a lively sound that has strength and ring and enough fundamental why try to make it dark and dull?! If you want to get noticed and have collegues and conductors and the audience enjoy and admire your playing put a little zing and color into it. I'm not suggesting using a 184 Miraphone. But just remember, the tuba is, after all, a brass instrument. As far as all the 6/4 size tubas go, I can get more of that kind of tone flexibility out of the Yorkbrunner compared to the others.
