I just would like to point out that not everyone published in the journal is a "college professor." There are people published that are experts in other fields...for example, Carole Nowicke is indeed an expert tuba historian, but is not a college music professor! Her article on Fred Marzan was very interesting, as was all of her work on Bill Bell! I think paying tribute to those players, and to other great musicians, is a wonderful thing, not "back scratching." I am glad that someone like she is willing to contribute her efforts to ITEA. The same goes for all others doing so...
It could be that a majority of articles come from professors, but perhaps they are the only ones that are submitting materials?
