The brass world could be considered having taken a major step forward if all brass players were able to play in tune according to the equal temperament scale. From there it would be a quite short distance to play in tune according to any tuning system required by the music played.
But as long as most brass players are amateurs, most play their instrument with the temperament it carried out of the factory.
Tempering these temperaments often comes out very temperamental, but not necessarily well tempered.
