The horns from that era are actually rather prized for their playability, durability and just generally a really nice tuba.The old-style linkage is oh so much better than the style that replaced it [which has since been replaced itself!]and virtually trouble-free. The concern voiced by another poster about play in the rotors is certainly a consideration
but one which you can easily check out by speaking to the repair shop locally and contacting the seller about going to look at the horn and trying it.My concern is that the price may be on the high side for a horn which has a suspect bell, but it's not ridiculous either.You are in a better position than most in that you can actually arrange to play the horn without major airline expense! Good luck, but don't worry too much if this one doesn't work out------there are always others.
