I tried both instruments and chose the MW 182. I agree with Roger that the Yamaha is slightly more free-blowing, and it is also a little easier to play low. The MW 182, is still very good down low, much better than most F tubas. I chose the 182 because it has a warmer and more colorful sound (at least to my ear). I have never regretted my choice.

Yamaha instruments probably have the best manufacturing consistency and ease of low register. In fact, many of the world's best tubists play them (Roger Bobo, Jim Self, etc). The main complaint against Yamaha is a "generic sound." I think both horns are great and made my decision based on the sound because the low register is still quite good on the MW 182. Also, I could have bought 2 MW 182s for the price of one Yamaha 621.
