There are more 52's out there than 56's, but in my opinion they are a better all around horn than the 56's. there sound isn't quite as big and broad, but 52j's play better in the upper register than 90% of the 56j's I've played. I've proably played at least 10 to 15 56j's, and only Steve Dedman's 56 had a really singing upper register.
As for the price, most horns have an introductory price that is a little on the low side.
