This thread is touching a very touchy subject.
I find it OK, that an amateur player boast a bit about his instruments and his musical activities to get some goodwill, in form of time and money for their hobby, within his family.
But it can be a problem, when the heirs want to sell the instruments, because they have far too high expectations to the amount of money they can get.
I have had to decline some of such deals. Sometimes because the instruments had never been as good as told of. Sometimes because they were in a sad state of repair. And the heirs have no understanding, that it sometimes will take as much as the asking price to bring an instrument in a usable shape.
So I am with Joe on this one.
