As for the MegaTone vs. regular throat issue, it would be trivial to measure the differences in throat diameters and resolve the question raised by the ambiguities in the Bach mouthpiece manual(s). Someone with a set of letter drills (similar to numbered drills [commonly, #1-#60], but larger than #1 and going up in size) could try the fit of various drills using the smooth shank ends of the drills. Someone with a ball caliper (basically, a split ball on a stick, where the distance between the halves can be adjusted) and a micrometer could compare the throats even more accurately.
