Sorry, but I have to jump in. Shouldn't learning the names of the notes on the staff be the FIRST PRIORITY? Afterall, you WILL be playing in that clef, you might as well take the time to learn it. When I first started I didn't take this time and I only knew that a note below the staff that with one leger line and one going through it was one and three, I couldn't even tell you what the actual note was. When my teacher called on me one day to play on the low Bb, I had no idea which note it was. I had been playing tuba for a few months and I didn't even know the note names! This is why I agree with the previous poster and think that notes should be top priority
