I've always been interested in this "Wiener-pattern" tuba since I picked up a Musica brochure at the Frankfurt Musikmesse in the mid-80s. Apart from anything else the 3RH + 3LH valve placement seems the most eminently playable from the purely manipulative point of view. I've always HATED the 4-in-line valve pattern (even being an accomplished pianist) and simply don't understand why players have had to labour under this ridiculously unergonomic handicap for so many decades. (A similar situation exists in the French Horn with the absurd RH little finger hook). Please mail me with more details of the Wiener-pattern tubas and sources....thanks
