John Harbison's opera, "The Great Gatsby," calls for two tubas. In its current production at Lyric Opera of Chicago, Rex Martin is playing second tuba and says that he's having a great time playing some of the jazzy licks.
Chicago Symphony Orchestra toured England a couple of years ago and presented a piece by Steven Birtwhistle that called for two tubas.
And what of Janacek's Sinfonietta (tenor tuba and contrabass tuba)?
