I've been playing in music groups for 52 years, and I have seen some rather strange meter markings. Some of these meters and meter shifts seem logical, well-thought out, and essential to the music. For example, a lot of the Stravinsky stuff falls in this category. But then, there is a whole glob of compositions wherein the "meter thing" becomes absurd. (These shall go nameless.) I feel good music should be celebrated, not cerebrated.
