Jay's 100% on about the mouthpiece! My Bach was great on my previous tuba, but with the St Pete, it stunk! Tried my Marcinkiewicz, and bingo! He's also correct about the bore. At .840, it's not for the faint of heart although I do find it's easier to fill than the Yamaha 321 I used to have. Maybe it's just me.
My St Pete play in tune with just a little valve slide tweeking and the main tuning slide out about 2".
