Many people overlook the fact that what type of valves a horn has greatly influences the sound of the instrument. Compare a PT-6 to a PT-6P, a PT-4 to a PT-4P, and a 4/4 Hirsbrunner rotary to the piston model, and you'll find 6 entirely different blowing, responding and sounding horns, even though the only differences are in their valve sections. A PT-10 does not have the same sound characteristics as a PT-10P. Get it? Good.

Recommendation: Buy the horn with the sound, response, and intonation that you like, and ignore what type of valves it has alltogether. You'll learn to play either rotaries or pistons just fine.
