I agree with you. The 4th valve slide is my one complaint about the new King. Not only is it inaccessible, but it is also too short. I like to be able to pull it out for 2&4 notes and push it in for 12&4, and keep it just right for 4 alone. On rare occasions it can be useful to pull the 4th slide way out to make it an "E" valve instead of an F. You could go the way of the King's CC sister (the Conn 52J) which has plenty of slide but in a rather exposed position. I prefer an arrangement in which the 4th valve tubing loops around the pistons, on top of the other tubing. You can hook your right thumb under it instead of using a thumb ring. I found a way to do that on my latest project "Yorkofone", which is sort of similar to the King.
