The problems I have with Bessons, prestige or otherwise, are intonation and the ergonomics. Even with a good prestige you still need that trigger to play in tune all the time, and the horn just feels too wide and awkward when I hold it. My Hirsbrunner is amazingly consistent in intonation and I can play any note flat or sharp if I want and still get a good sound. That flexibility requires a good ear but makes playing in tune both in solos and ensembles a lot easier. Also, I've had other good euphonium players who play Willsons and Bessons play my horn and comment on how comfortable it is to hold and how easily it blows. I suppose there might be another horn out there like this, but I haven't needed to look since my horn does what I want.
