I haven't played a gronitz, but of that list, I would put the conn at the top of that list, with the Rudy right behind. THe 1290's I have played have been very unimpressive, but I hear Marty Neilan has one for sale that has been customized into a very nice horn. Don't go for the new 1295's though. I think PT's a re great tubas that just cost more than they are worth new. You can find some real sweet deals on used PT-3's, maybe aroud $4000.
Also consider a Meinl 2145, but I still wouldn't put it ahead of the conn.
