In our community band there are three tuba players and one electric bass player. As tuba players we are always complaining about the bass player, playing loud... Lucky for us, our director loves tubas and he's constantly telling him to turn down!
From another point of view... Having one electric bass player that can turn up the volume and achive a full bass sound would be great for the band! "IF" no tuba players were available. But in my opinion it should be more about the traditional tuba sound and not about the quick fix. And so the debate continues...
