I don't understand, why would that be taken as showing off? shouldn't the best player win?? If someone can do, and do it well, why not go for it. I think i would rather take the score and make a statement. When a private instructo tells you something to do, I doubt it would be to show off. Obviously he thinks it makes musical sense. Music is individualistic, is it not?? Why be like everyone else? Make sense? I'm not dissputing your reasoning, I appriciate that you replied. I'm just trying to understand why it is seemingly wrong to make your own music. Thank you for your comments though.
