It seems that BBb Tubas are normally made with a natural tuning of 440 and 443. Miraphone is 443 while wilson and VMI are 440, just to name a few. Why is this so? My band is tuning to 442. Would a 440 instrument be more difficult to play in tune than a 443 tuned instrument in the band? Also, is the VMI 101 on Charlie's tubastore tuned to a 440 or 443?
