I agree that Amati seems to be greatly improved. I just purchased my first Amati instrument, and it's a winner. Price was reasonable. Workmanship, lacquer, case, valves, slides, all very good----the equal of most other manufacturers IMHO.

For you tubists that also play trombone: My Amati is an interesting small-bore valved trombone in C. It also has a separate tuning slide to put it in B flat (valve slides adjusted, of course). All in all, a very nicely-made, inexpensive, and versatile horn.
