I have a question. I have the opportunity to pick up a student who is in the 6th grade and has only been playing the tuba for a year. He has recieved accolades from his band director who has recomended me to begin tutoring him. My question is, what kind of material is appropriate for a younger student. Having not started private lessons until later in life, after high school, I'm not sure of the answer. You can bet that he will get a healthy dose fo breathing exersices, but is it to early to start the student on Bordogni etudes, and the like?

Thank you for any input
