I think you bring up a terrific point. Perhaps the whole question shouldn't be focused on keys, but rather great horn vs. not so good horn. At the time I got my e-flat, it was real tough to find a really good F. The B&S F's were just begining to arrive. Since then, I've beefed it up with the "19 bell and larger pipe. I like the sound but no so the valves. I'll try to get to San Jose Tuba Christmas (was that a plug?). I'd still like to know what Brad's teacher makes of all this fuss.
