Either is OK I've found. A Nerschl Eb set up like an old '30s York will suppply a very good bottom to a quintet but with touchy intonation a la York. The Hirs F is much simpler to play in pitch with slots for the partials and a good top end. My fav though is a rather small MW F that fits so well with the french horn. With any of these 5v horns you get into some pretty weird fingerings at the bottom end unlike a CC. Perhaps a small CC would be the coolest quintete tuba. Try anything once on twice.
