When I learned how to play F. I only played the CC in band rehearsals. I never felt like I was losing ground on the CC while learning the F. Make sure you use a different mouthpiece for each horn. That helped me separate them as different instruments. For me, it didn't really help to try to think of some fingerings as CC or some as BBb. I just tried to "forget" about those and started from scratch. I got out the old Getchell/Hovey book and started on page one. I played each etude until I could do it without mistake then I moved on to the next one. Overall, it took me about 6 months before I really felt comfortable sight reading hard stuff of the CC tuba, when I learned F tuba, it took about one month before I was comfortable. When I learned EEb it took about 3 weeks. So the more I learned the quicker I learned. Good luck.
