Does seem to me, however, that a hearing would have been in order, don't you think? Where was the faculty senate on all of this? Have they ever tried to put into place some administrative procedures to deal with such matters so that there are -some- safeguards? Due process, as such, doesn't apply to private institutions unless there's been some agreement to put it into place, e.g., through negotiation with the school.

However,if this is a state institution, there's a constitutional requirement (fifteh amendment) of "due process", but what "due process" is can vary considerably.

In this case, however, it sounds like there was no hearing at all - just accusation, then dismissal of the instructor. As the king said to the Queen of Hearts in "Alice in Wonderland" when she was screaming "OFF WITH HER HEAD," "Dear, do you suppose we could have a little trial first?"

Of course, the queen's rejoinder was "SENTENCE FIRST! VERDICT LATER!"

To use a non-legal term, what happened to this instructor sounds pretty cheesy to me.
