You probably should use a mixture of Helium and oxygen, as deep-sea divers do to avoid the bends. I don't feel like looking up data right now, but here are the clues: The frequency (pitch) will be proportional to the speed of sound in the mixture, and the sound speed is proportional to the reciprocal of the square root of the density. For example, if you cut the density in half then the sound speed and the standing wave frequencies will be multiplied by the square root of 2.
You also might enjoy experimenting with sulfur hexafluoride. I haver read that it is safe and harmless and much more dense than air. A small amount mixed properly could turn your CC tuba into a BBb.
