I'm not a professional; I play because I love it. I started playing again after 20-something years and I practice as much as I can. I'm not the player I was then, but I've made it my goal to be better than I was then. So, really the only advice I can give is to play because you love it....and because you love it, be the best you can be, in practice, auditions, whatever. Don't play because it's a job and don't get a job just to play. Good luck.
