In the Band world:
Howard Snell- (the best brass conductor IMO. Never mentions faults without having an immediate solution) I played under him at Britannia Fodens in the 90's. I learned more then than off any other teacher.
James Gourlay- (Great Tubist obviously, but an excellent band conductor. Really knows how a bass section should sound, and how to get it)

Outside bands:
Bramwell Tovey- (another tuba player! Conducts Vancouver Symphony, and Winnipeg in the past. He conducted a National Youth Brass Band course. He blew all of us away. He's now doing bits with the Fodens Band as well, so obviously loves brass!)
Frank Salter- You'll never have heard of him, but he conducts Operas locally. He does all rehearsals and performances from memory, can sing every part (on stage and the orchestra) and is one of the most demanding conductors I've played for.
