Yes, the slottiness of the York differed also from Joe S.'s description of the smoothness of the slurs on the York Master that he is now converting. Chris Hall and I discussed this, and agreed on this characteristic, except for the octaves, which slur beautifully.

It goes without saying that it is a characteristic, not necessarily a bad characteristic. And we should not forget that this characteristic might be exacerbated by my own playing style and abilities. Yes, the Miraphone was smoother in slurs, but if getting that smoothness means losing the special sound qualities of the York Master, I'm not interested. In any case, the smoothness improved significantly with the changes that were made.
