no offense, but what's the big deal about all-state honors band? I was in that once and I don't recall it being anything special. You could really make a name for yourself by getting involved in your local youth symphony orchestra which has rehearsals every week instead of once a year. I did, and the reward (Tchaik 5, Bernstein 1, Firebird, Pictures) was much greater than honors band. Also, why don't you go for some concerto competitions? These are also a great experience, especially if you win.
