Have 95% of professional conductors read this quote? Every recording I have heard of the Fantastic Symphony, using modern instruments, uses the 8vb Dies Irae.
I know that just because everybody does it doesn't mean it's right, but somebody somewhere along the line must have mentioned this quote.
