The Florida Concert Band is a nonprofit organization a 501c3 entity founded in 1992 and dedicated to preserve the American Heritage and tradition of solid gold memories of music.
The Band is a melting pot of seasoned musicians, professional performers coupled with aspiring young artists who have been selected by their music directors on the basis of their unique abilities and their enthusiasm for music. This is an opportunity for professional and talented musicians to perform and for young aspiring artists to gain experience.
All musicians are auditioned for their ability without regard to race, creed, color, ancestry, age, sex, sect or place or place of origin.
Some of the musicians were formerly with the NY Philharmonic, Pittsburg Symphony, NY Metropolitan Opera Orch., National Symphony, San Francisco Symphony, US Army Band, US Navy Band, US Marine Band, US Air Force Band, US Coast Guard Band and many other professional music groups.
The late Colonel Sam Loboda director and commanding officer of the US Army Band and the late Colonel Marlin Shoemaker Chaplain US Army were 2 of the several people who were instrumental in forming the Florida Concert Band.
The resounding success of attendance at the Band's concerts indicates that substantial progress has been made in our goal to provide good music throughout many communities of Florida. The Florida Concert Band with its high standard of performance is a vehicle that is being used to present and promote public support for many worthy projects and to make music an integral part of many peoples's lives.
