If it were me, I'd err on the side of lower but still in your cash register. Ask yourself, after the service would you rather your relatives be thinking, "Wow, Jacob sure played Amazing Grace nicely on the tuba" or "I didn't know Jacob could play notes that high on a tuba?"
How about Ab and then Bb?
