Sometimes this board misses the point. Why is it so hard to just answer the question with some information that might be useful to the guy?

While it is true that Arnold Jacobs is not with us any longer, he is responsible for teaching many current orchestral tuba players, either before they won their job or after. While thinking about it a bit, I tried to see if there is a place or teacher with a common thread, like Perantoni, Bowman and Kaenzig when it comes to DC Military band gigs. There doesn't seem to be the same phenomenom in orchestral auditions and training. I have to admit, I don't really know for sure where all the orchestral guys studied, so lets get some help from the board and find out:

Lets start with the recent winners:

Boston-
San Fransisco-
Louisville-
Colorodo Springs-
Savannah-
Rochester-
Honolulu-
Oregon-

And the biggies:

Pittsburg-
Philly-
Baltimore-
NY-
National-
Richmond-
north Carolina-
Charlotte-
Atlanta-
Jacksonville-
Florida-
Dallas-
Houston-
Lousiana-
St. Louis-
nashville-
Cincinnati-
Cleveland-
Columbus-
Detroit-
Indianapolis-
Chicago-
LA-
Seattle-

Who are the players here, and who where their teachers? Add in more orchestras and such, I only started the list.
