Due to the age of my private instructors (late seventies and late eighties, respectively)
I have a more "direct" connection with some of the big names of the past than many students my age.

Dr. John Richards was instructed by, among others, William Bell, Herbert L. Clarke, and Arnold Schoenberg. (theory professor in college)

Warren Baker was a student of Thomas Beversdorf at Indiana. (I don't remember any of his other teachers' names)

Beginning in the fall, I will also be studying under Michael Grose (U of Oregon) and he was a student of Arnold Jacobs. (Actually, Mr. Grose told me that he has taken lessons with both Dr. Richards and Mr. Baker when he was younger, interesting enough)
