Thanks, Micky (and Sean). Posts like this are why I've bookmarked this site. Y'know this brings to mind a book that I'm reading entitled "The Inextinguishable Symphony" by Martin Goldsmith. In a nutshell, it describes how music (and art), through the existence of the Jewish Kulturbund, helped his parents (both Jewish musicians) survive one of the ugliest moments in the history of mankind, the reign of Adolph Hitler. The fact that music is an art form (and subsequently, that we are artists) is nothing to be ashamed of. True, performance entails math (rhythmic values), science (reading a graph/staff), history, and so forth; and true, "work is the truest road to artistry" (Goldsmith), but the bottom line is that we are artists and entertainers. Otherwise, we are obsolete and useless.
