There are only one or two notes that require any adjustment on my 56-j, and they are withing the area of being comfortably lipped into tune. There is no slide adjustment at all. Even the D in the staff is easily fixed by simply listening and matching. It only starts going haywire above middle C, and that's due to the parking garage-sized Doug Elliott I play on normally. When I switch down to my PT-42, it brings the upper register right into tune.

Perhaps you should take 3 or 4 greatly contrasting mouthpieces with you when you play-test. If you like the sound but the tuning is ghastly, try a different mouthpiece. The results might be exactly what you are looking for!
