I've used a 69C4 on a 6/4 and a Yamaha Bobo symphonic and several other shallow mouthpieces. It make a big horn be heard over top of the rest of the band if you want it to. It will also clean up the sound of technical passages and to the listener in the back row. I am using a couple of differant Dillion mouthpieces that are shallow bowl shaped on the 6/4 but they are not as shallow as the 69C4 or the Yam Boba symphonic. They seemed too brassy or bright for me. I use I guess a med. shallow mouthpiece on the 6/4 because its intonation is good so when the horn slots with these mouthpieces it is where it needs to be. I use a deep funnel on my Yam 621 because it already has a clear sound and the funnel shaped mouthpiece lets me pust the tone where it needs to be.

All I can say is try those shallow mouthpieces on a big horn and see what you think and everyone else will think.
