My experience with a horn-length hoseaphone was that it had immensely more resistance than a real horn. What I recommend is to get some tubing that your mpc will fit into, and find a length of it that approximates the resistance you get with your tuba. Then just practice your stuff on that while on vacation. The funnel etc really did not make much difference for a horn length tube; mostly it seemed to be for show. For horn, the length of tube is only a few inches, which leads me to believe that the majority of resistance in an instrument is determined by the leadpipe.
Longer tubes also collect condensate at an incredible rate, and it's nearly impossible to get it out. It should really be called a burble-a-phone.
