I play in a brass quintet. I love the sound my 5/4 CC gets, but i'm tired of slaving away on 16th note runs and trombone-2-converted-to-tuba-parts that stay above the staff on it. Some of our pieces, i've decided, would be easier played on a small, 3/4 "pocket tuba." Since i'd rather not transpose Eb or F, what is a good, tried-and-true, small BBb tuba. I don't want to spend a lot of money, since it will be a secondary instrument for occasional use, and i don't care how old it is or what it looks like, i'll pick up one cheap on Ebay or something and have it reworked if neccesary. Opinions on what's the best way to go?
