Klaus

I've played my (band's) 994 along side a 993 front action BBb horn. The 993 has a clearer (some may say brighter) sound and is much free[er] blowing. I produced the some sound and smoothness in a quick comparison and the 993 was noticably easier to play.

The 994 is also very wide and is causing me discomforts like the tristing of my back. I'm 5'8" and play with it sitting in my lap. Taller or players with long arms my find it suitable though.

With a "free" left hand, the 993 tuning slides can easily be adjusted on-the-fly. This is the best thing i've found, as i've always had intonation problems on every BBb tuba i've played. Yes, I do do my best to compensate (and listen) but some of the horns were THAT bad.

I play a 983 Eb horn and it is so comfortable to hold. The 993 will be too.
