When I first started working with a certain high school, one of my tuba players was an obvious pothead. As this was a competition marching band, the director insisted that the instruments and accessories be shined before all performances. This particular kid's saliva was so gross that it would tarnish his mouthpiece within a day. I hate to think of what it did to the inside of the horn!
