While begining to learn tuba during my first year in high school, I was astonished that a senior tuba player had actually made a huge water pipe out of his sousaphone. He had taken it apart and installed whatever he needed to make it work. One solder joint was duct taped so he could "load" it. He used it during football games, when the air was cool and your breath would make "smoke" in the air. We could always smell it, and I remember thinking he gurgled a lot, but we could never tell exactly where it was coming from. When he turned his horn in at graduation, it has to be sent out for repair to be usable again. I wouldn't believe it if I hadn't seen it.
