Speaking for the current Air Force Field Bands, you can, and probably will (as a euphonium player)have the opportunity to play in groups other than the concert band. Usually, but not always, musicians play in two groups. For a euphonium player this would mean a brass quintet, or jazz band. The job itself is similar to being a free-lance musician in that we get to do a wide variety of playing jobs, styles, etc.
