Speaking for the Navy Band, most of the tuba and euphonium section play in the concert band, ceremonial units, and chamber groups. With 5 tubas and 4 euphs, we fill out the concert band (3/3), tuba/euph quartet (2/2), brass quartet (1/1), and brass quintet (1/0)--not all at the same time! Not many double and play in our other groups, but one is a fine jazz euphonium (Rich Matteson student--it can be done!), and one of the tuba players doubles on bass and has performed with our Sea Chanters choir. Most are active playing solos and sometimes full recitals/masterclasses/clinics.

Flexibility is our middle name!
