How old is this BBS?

I ws just wondering a an avid reader/poster in this forum how old it was? I remember reading it in college back in possibly 1996? Maybe Sean could inform us all, I know it has been a tremendous resource for our community, and I am just curious.

p.s. What happened to all of the old info? Is any of it available beyond the archives?
