1. Have you tried a bigger mouthpiece? For me (a tubist doubling on trombone or euphonium occasionally) that solves the problem you describe. Of course you pay the price on the high register, but maybe you can switch just for that passage.
2. I often hear euphoniums struggling with low notes that would sound much better on tubas. Why not swallow your pride and give the tuba section a copy of the passage?
